Week 1 - monday to friday

INTRODUCTION

Our first phase of teaching practice was at jawahar HS Ayur from 20-12-2021.

The principal of Sabarigiri college of Education

Dr. Babukuttan sir alloted seven students to jawahar HSS Ayur. Harilekshmi and Nithya from Natural Science department , me , devika, Manasi from physical science department and fousy and Devi from mathematics department were the selected teachers. All of our teacher in charges, especially Sreedevi teacher provided us with all necessary instructions, guidance, and support for completing our teaching manual, selecting activities and models for teaching and preparing teaching aids for teaching practice.

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

We the teacher trainees alloted to Jawahar HS Ayur, reached school right at 9 am everyday then signed our register, and we stayed in our alloted classroom. There were also student trainees from the KUCTE institution besides us. We collected time table from Sunil sir in the first day itself .Due to the corona situation, the school has classes till noon. The very first day I got the opportunity to take a basic science class on 8th standard and also done sociometry activity in 9 th standard and a substitution class on class 10th.When we got free time we did the work to be done.That was a productive day. Second day I had no classes so w did the works in our alloted class. It was our duty to serve lunch on that day and also we got the task to cleaning of science lab with the guidance of akhila teacher.In third day, I had a period on class 9th. We conducted quiz competition based on national mathematics day .That was a good experience to us. This week was very productive to us.

CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

In this week students of 8th standard were taught using of teaching manual from their second chapter from part 2 of basic science textbook. 8th standard students were taught biosphere and ecology. The students of 9th standard were taught using teaching manual of their first unit from part 2 of biology text. They were taught excretion to maintain homeostasis. Teaching aids such as charts and cutouts were used for both classes appropriately based on the topic taught.

The reflective journals were also done this week.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

22- 12-2021 was international mathematics day . So we conducted a quiz competition under the leadership of mathematical department based on the permission got from headmistress.The first position was got by sreenanda from 8 th standard and second position was got by Nanma from 10th standard. Prize were given to both.

OVERALL REFLECTION OF CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE

The students of 8th standard and 9th standard were given teaching manual oriented activity based classroom experience. Each teaching manual of both standards were completed effectively. Three charts and a cutout was prepared for eight standard and four charts for 9th standard. Students were given followup activities like assignment and short note in science diary.
